Self Love Your Way

Have you jumped on the self-love bandwagon yet?

Or do you think it’s a fad that will pass by and we will never hear about again? The biggest fad of 2017? Yeh I thought so. When everyone bangs on about it for long enough you lose interest and think I don’t have time for that – the fad will pass.

I’m just going to put it out there and state what I believe with every single cell of my being….

The SELF LOVE fad is here to stay.

It needs to stay, self-love is not optional it is necessary. Before I lose you lets change the wording maybe it doesn’t resonate with you? I am going to call it Me Time (MT), insert whatever words resonate with you here to make it more meaningful and beneficial to you and your health! (because why else would you waste your time reading along, I know you are super busy right?!)

My life changed when I started adding in MT and taking out people pleasing, saying yes to every single event, having high expectations of myself (+ others) and taking the word ‘should’ out of my vocab.

{Definition of should: Used to indicate obligation, duty, or correctness, typically when criticizing someone’s actions.}

I didn’t realize how much this was holding me back, from living life on my terms as the very best version of myself. By actually doing what I wanted to do, looking after myself and prioritizing doing what made me happy daily. It sounds too simple, I know but honestly doing self-love my way has transformed my life so I know it can transform yours too.

I think what’s important to realize and wrap your head around with MT is there is no manual, there is no specific task or activity you have to do in MT, despite what all the peeps in your Instagram feed are sharing with you.

You are YOU.

Which means what works for me and what works for you will be different, we will both enjoy doing different things in MT. Makes sense right? If we were all the same how boring would life be? So with that in mind, I would love to get you started and on your way with some MT.

The perfect place to start is by writing a list of things, people, activities and situations that bring out the best in you. Where you feel supported, loved, encouraged, happy and ultimately like anything is possible!! (because it totally is)

Now for the next list, jot down some things that reenergize you and you can do by yourself.

There you have it a little collection of things that make you feel good, reenergize you and light you up – AKA perfect MT activities to stick on the fridge, put in your journal or into your phone. That way when you have a shit day, have a spare 5 minutes or are planning your week you can pick one thing for each day. By slowly adding in MT every day I promise your life will change before your eyes. You will feel an increase in happiness, gratitude, life fulfillment, positive thoughts and even your health.

Who would have thought – something as simple as prioritizing you || putting yourself first || doing what you love. Remember it is the simple things that bring us the most joy because they generally hold so much meaning to us. If you think about it every MT activity you have come up with holds special meaning to you in some way and makes you feel good.

Let’s make 2018 more about feeling good from the inside out. Life is too short not to be doing things that make us feel good ALL the time!!
