Pre Wedding Beauty Tips

Being engaged is all fun and games until you realise you actually need to plan a whole wedding, from start to finish…ok that’s a lie haha I had the whole damn thing planned in my head years before I even met my fiancé Griffo. One of my friends recently got married and she had an extremely detailed beauty routine that was part of her wedding prep plan leading up to the big day.

I honestly thought she was crazy and a little over the top but then I spoke with loads of other brides who were doing or had done the same thing.

HELLO ANXIETY! I have enough stress organising the wedding let alone the beauty treatments too.

Well queue angel like music, we are here to help you out with a quick timeline to keep you on track for your big day.

I don’t know about you but being fuzz free in the hair department is all too lovely. Now it’s not a must but it’s definitely nice especially when you have hair like mine. You’ll have to start treatments about eight months before the wedding because you’ll need about four to six weeks in between each treatment and you’ll probably need five to six treatments to get super smooth.

Start seeing your skin lady for some skin preparation.

I recently teamed up with the guys at Absolute Cosmetic for some IPL Photo Rejuvenation and it was fab. I was little worried when I saw the little zapper but after my first treatment today and seeing the results I am pumped for my next session in a month. If you’re like me and living under a rock and had no idea what it was then a quick explanation is a must.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive medical technology that uses light therapy to eliminate signs of ‘photo-ageing’ including pigmentation, freckles, sun spots as well as broken capillaries. (The broken capillaries are from my father’s side, I am the lucky one with the gene pool haha)

IPL photo rejuvenation can also treat melasma, rosacea, acne scarring and active acne. Absolute Cosmetic Medicine uses a medical grade IPL machine which means that it can provide visible results with fewer treatments. I also have some sun damage that it will help with as the light from the IPL will break down the pigment into a tiny particle which either raises to the skin’s surface (and naturally removing themselves within a week or so) or the small particles are carried away by the body’s lymphatic system. Over a series of 4-6 treatments, you will notice an evener skin tone and brighter complexion.

Schedule your hair and makeup trial. You should by now, know who’s doing your hair and makeup for your wedding. Get all your inspo shots together; your headgear if that’s what you’re going for and head to the salon. Take photos, experiment and if you’re not happy, SPEAK UP now not on the day. You have time so chill girl.

Experiment with tans on Thursday nights (Tan Thursdays are a REAL thing girl)
Experimenting with a spray tan means you will avoid walking down the aisle…looking like a cheeto unless you’re into that. YOU DO YOU.

Get them brows tamed. Get your google on and find a brow artist that can shape your perfect brow. If you get them shaped now a month before the wedding you will be able to get them touched up a few days before and your brows will be on FLEEK.

Get your nails done! Organise a trip to your local salon or have your bridesmaids over for a girls night in and paint each other’s toes and nails. For me, personally I’ll be off to the salon as I don’t trust myself painting anyone’s nails, it’s a skill I never had.

Wax yourself from head to toe, not literally haha. Hair-free carefree am I right? Get your waxing done a few days before so if any redness occurs you can give it time to rest. Still, use ice on that top lip just in case.

If none of this floats your boat or doesn’t fit the budget that’s cool too, whatever you do, it’s your day and you’re going to own it! You’ll look and feel fabulous either way!

Your Hubby-to-be is a lucky guy.
